Gastronomy
The city has it all. Zapopan is a melting pot of flavors that reflect the identity of Jalisco. Among its most iconic dishes is the torta ahogada , prepared with salty birote stuffed with carnitas and dipped in a tomato and chili sauce, accompanied by onion and lime.
Another traditional delicacy is chiles capones, poblano peppers stuffed with cheese or beans, battered and fried, and served with handmade tortillas . To cool off, nothing beats a glass of tejuino, a fermented drink made from corn dough, piloncillo, and lemon juice, served with ice and a pinch of salt.

For nature and adrenaline lovers, Zapopan offers breathtaking scenery. The Huaxtla Canyon is a paradise for canyoning, with walls up to 150 meters high and crystal-clear waterfalls. Furthermore, the Bosque de la Primavera, known as the lungs of the Metropolitan Area, is ideal for mountain biking, hiking, and ecotourism. With more than 30,000 hectares, it is home to unique biodiversity and trails such as "La Mosca" and "Espinazo del Diablo."

Culture
Zapopan is a municipality that proudly celebrates its roots and traditions. The Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Zapopan, celebrated every October 12th, is one of Mexico's most important pilgrimages, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. During this festival, thousands of faithful accompany the Virgin from the Guadalajara Cathedral to the Basilica of Zapopan, on a journey filled with dance, music, and devotion.
Another significant cultural event is the Dance of the Tastoanes, celebrated in various Zapopan towns such as Jocotán and Nextipac. This dance represents indigenous resistance against the conquistadors, with masked figures staging symbolic battles.
